Christ's Sandals
What does it mean to see the feet of Jesus in a vision standing on water wearing sandals? According to research, the sandal is a very important cultural and status symbol. It is a biblical footwear. Some sandals were made of wood and fiber, some leather, and some were made of badger skin. It is said that wealthy people often wore sandals made of badger skin. The shepards needed a tougher sandal to wear outside in the fields. Most sandals were made with hard leather soles and were made with a leather strap attached on both sides to secure the foot. The poor people were the ones that did not have sandals at all.
I often wonder what my vision of Jesus wearing sandals is saying to me. From Bible reading, I have learned that people who entered the presence of God to stand on holy ground were told to remove their sandals. God told Moses, "Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground (Ex.3:5). A sandal did not completely cover the foot. When a person traveled, the feet became quite dirty. Jesus washed the feet of his disciples (St. John 13:5). Jesus said, "He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all (St. John 13:10). (St. John 1:27) John the Baptist said, " He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose."
Looking at all of the verses that I have read, it seems that the vision that I saw of Christ's Sandals is a reflection of them all. For you see, Jesus is the word of God.
